Ansel James "A. J." Strahan, Jr., 84, of San Augustine Park, Texas passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

A. J. was born on March 12, 1937 in West Lake, Louisiana to Ansel James Strahan, Sr. and Ruby Rose Strahan.  He worked as a lab technician for many years in Port Arthur for Texaco Refinery.  After retiring from Texaco, he and his wife, Syble, moved from Bridge City to San Augustine County where they have resided for the past 26 years.

A. J. is survived by his wife, Syble Strahan of San Augustine Park, Texas; daughters, Patti Moss and husband, Buddy, Cindy Thibodeaux and husband, Jesse, and Marcy Strahan, all of Bridge City; grandchildren, Leah Busby and husband, Adam, Nicolas Watson and wife, Jamie, Andrea Crosby and husband, Billy, Roni Brown and husband, Chad, and Ryan Thibodeaux and wife, Kallie; and great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Gracie, Natalie, Lucas, Lane, Sally, William, and Sadie.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Robert Hargraves and Bro. Russell Duplantis officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.

Burial will follow services in Pineland Cemetery with Jesse Thibodeaux, Buddy Moss, Chad Brown, Nicolas Watson, Adam Busby, Dennis Fails, Chris LeBlanc, Greg Temple and Charles Trahan serving as pallbearers.
