Victoria Alyssa Renae Retherford, 17, of Black Ankle, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Alyssa was born on June 24, 2003 in Lufkin, Texas to Oscar "Shorty" Lloyd Retherford and Charla Ann Dickerson. She enjoyed dressing up, singing along to Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, dancing, and the beach. Alyssa was outspoken and adored her Pitbull, Sasha.

She is survived by her father, Shorty Retherford; mother, Charla Sowell and Kris Rhame of Black Ankle, Texas; brothers, Zachary Retherford of Bronson and Caden "Boogie" Sowell of Black Ankle, Texas; stepbrothers, Calob Chisenhall Rhame and Jake Rhame; great grandmother, Lena Mae Moore of Bronson; grandparents, Charles Wayne Dickerson of Bronson, Vicki Moore and Marty Forse of Black Ankle, Texas, Jimmy and Betty Rhame of Center, and Margie Marshburn of Bronson; aunt, Brooke Dickerson of Bronson, Joanna Moody and Malcom of Bronson, Joyce Brown of Winnie, Texas and Cindy Dorn and Rodney of Bronson; uncle, Wesley Rhame and wife, Savanah of Center, Jack Retherford and wife, Kim of Zavalla, James Retherford and Joe Retherford of Bronson; best friends, Kimberly Eddings and Courtney Retherford; special friends, Amy Raymond, Morgan Allen and Jaylen, Nick Allen, Jordan Allen, Michael Clark, Daniel Clark, Dillon Clark, Bryan Clark, Ashton Clark, Jasper Clark, Kattie, Cody, Colton, Eli, Corbin and Aiden; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Don Moore and Oscar Retherford; great grandparents, Ebb and Bertie Dickerson and cousin, Issac Shivers.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wesley Pate officiating.

Burial will follow services in Bronson Cemetery with Jacob Fletcher, Nick Allen, Hunter Hopson, Japhen "JJ" Walker, Logan Warner and Greg Martin serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Chisenhall, Evan Lutz, Tootie Horton and Juan Mason.
