Bettye Ruth Kimbro, 93, of Lufkin, Texas (formerly of Hemphill, Texas) passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Pinecrest Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Lufkin.

Bettye was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 5, 1927 to Ira Key Akin and Laura Elizabeth Steffenauer Akin.

Bettye had lived in the Groves, Texas are where she worked as a Senior Clerk for Texaco, Inc. before retiring and moving to Hemphill with her husband in 1983.  She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Hemphill, the United Christian Services, and the United Methodist Women's Organization.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Kimbro.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with visitation beginning one hour prior to service.

Burial will follow services in Yellowpine Cemetery.
