Carroll was born in Kemp, Texas on September 13, 1931 to Carroll D. Henry and Etta Mae Smelker Henry. He lived in Kemp and attended school there until 6th grade and was taught by his mother. He was able to skip one grade. His family moved to Caldwell, Texas and he graduated from school in 1948 at the age of 16. He then attended Baylor University for one semester but had to transfer after it was determined that he was unable to play ball on his scholarship.
He later moved to Beaumont where he worked for Gulf States Utilities for 21 years and attended Lamar University where he graduated with a degree in business administration.
Along the way, he became the father to two children and continued to work two jobs while also playing baseball with several teams in and around the Beaumont area. His best friend said he was a wonderful ball player and he did play with a semi-pro team for several seasons but being away from his family was too much.
Carroll played tennis and racquetball and was also an avid fisherman.
After working for Gulf States for 21 years, he had an opportunity to go to work for the Ralph M. Parson Company of Pasadena, CA and was sent to Iran where he worked for three years. He was evacuated when the Shah was replaced. He returned to the US and worked at several different sites.
in 1980, he was working on a job for Parsons in Beaumont and it was there that he met the love of his life, Charlotte. The were married November 7, 1981 in South Lake Tahoe and had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. During this time he worked in Prudhoe Bay, South Korea, Baton Rouge and Deer Park before he finally retired to play bridge and make Charlotte laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Conner Henry; daughter Cree and husband, Jay; sons, Brad Henry, John Wolfe, Jeff Wolfe and wife, Rachel, and Jason Wolfe and wife, Heather; several grandchildren; and one brother, George.
His request was to be cremated with no services and these wishes are being respected.

He was cared for during his year long illness by the staff of Affinity Hospice and his special nurses, Lindsey Ross, RN and Cassie Kellum, CNA took excellent care and he kept them laughing with his wry sense of humor.
