Derrell Gene Tinsley, 84, of Zavalla, Texas passed away Friday, November 25, 2022 at his residence.

Derrell was born November 6, 1938 in Ashland, Illinois to William Risco Tinsley and Ramonia Elaine Curry Tinsley.  A long time resident of Illinois, he had lived in Zavalla for 25 years and was a member of Shady Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Laborer's Union 477 and a member of Cantrall United Methodist Church while living in Cantrall, Illinois.

Derrell is survived by his wife, Christine Tinsley of Zavalla; sons, Kevin D. Garner and wife, Angel, of North Carolina and William "Billy" J. Tinsley and wife, Melanie, of Springfield, Illinois; daughters, Susan Shelabarger and husband, Tim, of Springfield and Margaret Snow and husband, Curt, also of Springfield, and LaDonna McClarahan and husband, Tod, of Rockdale, TX; stepson, Martin Rumsey of Delavan, Illinois; step-daughter, Tamra Bokal and husband, A. J., of Medford, Oregon; sisters, Delores Klein and Vonnie Bailey, both of Prentice, Illinois; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.
