Obituary

Dixie Alice Scott, 84, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 in Sabine County Hospital.

Dixie was born November 18, 1938 in DeSoto, Wisconsin to Arlon David Witcraft and Muriel Abiah Gordon Witcraft.  She married her first husband, Charles Tyler, in 1957 and they had four children - Charles unfortunately passed away in a car accident before their fourth child was born. She remarried and had a son.  In 1973 she married Earl Scott, he adopted all five children. They moved to Victory, WI in 1978 and became owner/operators of Scott's S&T Sports Land.

In 1980, she received her Associates Degree in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for Bethany St. Joseph Care Center. in LaCrosse, WI.  She worked as a Home Care Nurse in the Sabine County, Texas area until her retirement.  In 1993, she and Earl moved to Texas where they bought a beautiful home on the Toledo Bend Reservoir.  This little bit of paradise was her home until her final day.  Dixie loved to work in her flower gardens, do lawn work and even trim trees.  She had always been a very independent and self-directed woman.  No task was too big or too tough for her.  Her new family became the wonderful neighbors and friends of Pecan Loop Estate.  She became everyone's "Grandma" or "Mother".  She loved hummingbirds and wind chimes.  There isn't a wall or shelf in her home that doesn't have a hummingbird picture, plate, figurine or clock on it.  Dixie will be so dearly missed but never forgotten.
