Dorothy Frances Tatom passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 95 in Hemphill, Texas. Born on September 21, 1930, in the Pine Park Community of Sabine County, she was the daughter of Mance Herrington and Gladys Craddock Herrington.

Dorothy spent most of her life in Sabine County and was a proud graduate of Bronson High School, Class of 1947. She lived in Tenaha with her family for many years. Known for her warm spirit and dedication to her community, Dorothy's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Wade Tatom and his wife, Julie, of Tenaha; daughters, Rhonda Gipson and her husband, Floyd, and Robyn Shapley and her husband, Andy, all from the Plainview Community; sisters, Faye Dickerson and Jo Ann Forse of Pineland, and Jeanette Harvey of Center; along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lynn Tatom; her parents; her brother, Harvey Herrington; and her sisters, Marguerite Schwartz, Colleen Beckcom, Rosie Taylor, and Joyce Dickerson.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Plainview Cemetery,5176 Plainview Rd. in Pineland, Texas with Bro. Michael Dickerson officiating.

Visitation will take place on the same day from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Handling the arrangements is Starr Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Plainview Cemetery in Dorothy's memory, a gesture that would be greatly appreciated and honor her lifelong commitment to her community.
