Arthur Earl Eccles, Jr., 78, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his residence.

Earl was born on September 14, 1942 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Arthur Earl Eccles, Sr. and Hazel May Schavers Eccles.  He worked for 30 years as a firefighter for Baton Rouge Fire Department.  After retirement, he and his wife moved to the Fairmount area of Toledo Bend in Sabine County where they have resided for the past 26 years.

Earl was a member of the AFL-CIO Teamsters and Truckdrivers Union.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.  He was extremely talented at fixing things and had a passion for helping people out by fixing anything they brought to him.  He also enjoyed his model trains.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy "Dot" Eccles of Hemphill; son, Steven Earl Eccles and wife, Tina, of Walker, LA; daughter, Tawana Ogg and husband, James, of Montgomery, TX; sisters, Ester Ruth Mitchell and Betty Joan Favorone; grandchildren, Devin Ogg and wife, Chantal, Hope Ogg, Brooklyn Eccles, and Blake Eccles and wife, Andi; and great grandchildren Bryce Ogg, Asher Ogg, and Beckham Eccles.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill.
