Obituary

Eric Blaine Gottschald

1976-2021

"When someone you love becomes a memory, the memories become a treasure!"

On Friday, September 17, 2021, many hearts were distraught by the sudden death of Eric Blaine Gottschald. Eric was born on June 21, 1976 in Wharton, Texas to Susan and Alton Gottschald. Eric was only 45 years old when he sadly left our presence.

Eric grew up in LaGrange, Texas among a host of relatives and friends. Later in life, he moved to Pineland, where he enjoyed his huge love of riding his motorcycle and his poker-run rides with his friends. Eric was a very hard worker at his job with Georgia-Pacific.

Eric's proudest accomplishment in his short life was his two sons, Tristan and Josiah. If you asked him why he worked so hard, he'd say "for my sons." Eric had a good heart and would help anyone who needed it and asked him.

Eric is survived by his two loving sons, Tristan and Josiah; his father, Alton Gottschald Jr. of Sheridan and mother, Susan Harvey Vigeon of Lockhart; brother, Brenyn Quibodeaux of Lockhart; sisters, Crystal O'Keefe of Michigan, Tiara Fondren of Luling, and Brielle Quibodeaux of Lockhart; his special friend, Jeanna Courtney of Pineland; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alton (Jake) and Mildred Gottschald; maternal grandparents, Esther Shaffer and Lester Harvey; and his dear great-aunt, Willa Shaffer.

We will miss Eric greatly; however, our tears will eventually be softened by the memories each of us share and that special twinkle he had in his eyes for those that he loved.

Memorial services for Eric will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill.

Condolences can be made and guest book may be signed online at starrfuneralhome.com.

"Afterglow"

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an Afterglow, of smiles when the day is done.

I'd like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways of happy times and bright sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when the day is done.
