Harold Douglas Gilbert, 78, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Harold was born on February 12, 1942 in Houston, Texas to G. B. Gilbert and Martha Ella Wells.   He worked as a Supervisor for 42 years for Oxidental Petroleum before his retirement.  He and his wife were residents of Sabine County for 19 years, having previously resided in Channelview, Texas.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and in particular, fish.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hemphill.

Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaNell Gilbert of Hemphill; daughters, Terri Lynn Gilbert Heironimus and husband, James, of Clear Lake, Texas and Penni Sue Gilbert Philpot of Cypress, Texas; and his wonderful grandson, Phoenix Philpot of Cypress, Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were made by Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill.
