James Milton Poindexter, 78, of Pineland, Texas passed away Monday, January 4, 2021.

Milton was born in San Augustine, Texas on September 1, 1942 to Eli Poindexter and Ora Melissa Stringer Poindexter.  He was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and was pastor of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church.  He was minister and a carpenter and he was a member of the Bronson Masonic Lodge.

Milton is survived by his sons, Mike Poindexter and wife, Jessica, of Brookeland and David Poindexter and wife, Rochelle, of Bronson; grandchildren, Vanessa, Jessica, Katie, Brittany, Kayla, and Sayge; and great grandchildren, Coty, Lynnsey, Winston, Jorden, Austyn, Gunner, and Kaden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Fay Murray Poindexter.

Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 in Brookeland Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Gibbs officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Poindexter, Hilton Poindexter, Coy Holmes, Aaron Jolet, Ollie Poindexter, Terry Lott, and Barry Wright.

Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Parnell and Jimmy Wayne Parnell.
