James Nathan Whitehead, 53, of Vidor, Texas passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at his residence in Vidor.

Nathan was born in Liberty, Texas on February 29, 1968 to Harold Loyd Whitehead and Linda Ruth Berry Whitehead.  He grew up in Hemphill, Texas and graduated from Hemphill ISD.  Nathan worked for several years in Peru where he had many adventures including meeting his wife, Nargis, who he was with for 30 years.  After moving back to Texas, he worked in the refineries in the Golden Triangle area painting and sandblasting.

In his younger years, Nathan spent a lot of time fishing and hunting with his dad and his uncles and cousins.  He was a great story teller. He wrote many of his memories down and shared them with his family and we all enjoyed them.  Nathan was a great family man who loved his wife, Nargis and daughter, Ashley.  He also loved Nargis' cooking.

Nathan is survived by his wife, Nargis Whitehead of Vidor; daughter, Ashley Whitehead of Vidor; brothers, Harold Whitehead, Stanley Whitehead of Brookeland, and George Whitehead and wife, Flor, of Vidor; sisters, Priscilla Whitehead of Conroe and Cristie Whitehead of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Whitehead and his mother, Linda Whitehead.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with visitation before services from 12 noon until service time.
