John Paul West, 88, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Rayburn Healthcare in Jasper, Texas.

Johnnie was born in Hemphill, Texas on October 23, 1934 to Hubert Henry West and Minnie Herrin West.  He was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and served his country as a member of the United States Army.  After the military, he worked as a brick mason for many years.  He enjoyed going hunting and fishing whenever he got the chance.

He is survived by his sons, Robert West of Beaumont and Gene West; sister, Mozell Byley of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Pamela Stroud of Carthage; great grandchildren, Christian, Desiree, Aaron, Bladden, Bryan and Maria; and great great grandchild, Ballemy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Minnie West; son, John West, Jr.; and daughter, Linda Stroud.

Graveside services will begin at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in Hemphill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
