Obituary

Johnny Allen Jones, 79, of Milam, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 17, 2022. Born on May 2, 1943, in Orange, Texas, he was the son of George and Mattie Jones and was one of nine siblings.

Paw Paw…He was brave, strong, and tough as nails. He would let you know exactly what was on his mind and would never sugar coat anything. He had a small circle, but if you were in it, he would give you the shirt off his back. He never told a lie. If he said it, you could take it to the bank and cash it. He was loyal and dependable and would do anything for his family and friends.

He was a Marine first. The Marine corps ran through his veins. He was proud of his service in Vietnam (2 tours), but he would seldom, if ever, talk about his service. He was a Master Mason for 45 years and contributed to their charities faithfully and quietly, without recognition.

Looking at Johnny Allen's rough exterior, you would never have known that he was a world traveler. His job as a millwright took him all over the world. From Europe to the Middle East and everywhere in between, he helped build oil refineries all over the world. The impact he made on this earth could never truly be measured. He left a mark on every corner of the globe, and it is a better place because of it. And though he'd traveled far and wide, there was no other place for him but East Texas and the piney woods he loved so much.

There will never be another Johnny Allen and we will miss him forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Archie, Ned, Billie Rae, Mary Beth, Chalmers, and Randy Paul.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Johnnie Jones; two daughters, Jennifer Stark and husband Randy and Jill Rogers and husband Eric; grandchildren, Adam and wife Laikyn, Zachary, Slaydon, Jenna and husband Parker, and Noah; great-grandchildren Tynlee and Quinton; siblings, Bud Jones and wife Loretta and Rita Aasen and husband Frank; best friend Bobby Johnson and wife Debbie.
