Karon Sue
Goebel
Jul 12, 1949 — Mar 3, 2023
Cypress
Karon Sue Wooldridge was born on July 12, 1949 to Billie L. Wooldridge and Dorothy J. Wooldridge (Mangrum) at Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Arkansas. She spent most of her growing up years in the St. Louis, Missouri area. She moved with her daughter, Leslie, to Friendswood, Texas in 1991. Karon was preceded in death by her parents and beloved niece, Sarah Louise Wooldridge.
On March 3, 2023, Karon Sue Goebel, loving mother and sister passed away in the city of Cypress, Texas. She is survived by her loving daughter, Leslie Wright and grandson, Joshua Davis Wright, her sister Clara Anne Dittmar and wife Jill, and brother Samuel Wooldridge and wife, Sheree. Karon was loving and proud of her numerous nieces and nephews.
Karon was known as a creative and caring soul. She was a "Jill of many trades" working in everything from undercover private detective; antique dealer and refinisher, and master cook. In her retirement, she moved with her husband, Richard, to Hemphill, Texas. There she owned and operated "Granny's House Antiques and Refinishing". Later she turned part of her eclectic shop into "Sophie's Place Restaurant" serving only the freshest and finest grilled sandwiches, soups, salads and the famous Sophie's potato and renowned Rueben sandwich.
Karon also became a true citizen of Hemphill preparing special soups and requested goodies for home-bound, ill, and people in need. Her lifelong motto was "always think about the gifts you have been given and share them with others". She did just that.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all that knew her. Karon requested a simple graveside service that will be administered by Starr Funeral Home at Harper's Chapel Cemetery at 2 pm on Wednesday March 8, 2023.
