Leonard Wayne Hughes, 56, of Hemphill, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Sabine County Hospital.

Leonard was born on January 21, 1966 in Hemphill, Texas to Floyd Buford Hughes and Ruth Lee Watson Hughes. He enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir. He loved country western music and knew all the words to The Star-Spangled Banner. Although he couldn't read, he loved his books and would sit for hours just turning the pages. Leonard adored his collection of stuffed animals and would line them up all around the house to look at them all. He was very loved and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Hughes of Hemphill; sisters, Brenda Corley, and husband, Chuck of Hemphill and Diann Brackin and husband, Mike of Hemphill; nephews, Terance Corley and wife, Nicole and Brian Corley and wife, Amanda both of Hemphill; nieces, Kristy Titzman and husband, Ryan of New Waverly, Tx and Melanie Hughes of Lake Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Hughes and sister, Jane Hughes.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.

A Graveside Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Seamans Cemetery in Chester, Texas with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Terance Corley, Brian Corley, Ryan Titzman, Levi Titzman, Luke Titzman, and Joel LaBlanc.
