Obituary

Levenia Luke Burns

Oct 3, 1937 - March 30, 2021

Levenia Luke Burns of Broaddus, TX passed from this life on March 30, 2021. Lee spent her final weeks with her son Earl Robert Burns, IV (Bob) and her dear sister-in-law, Wanda Faye Luke, by her side. Covid regulations kept many others from visiting, but she knew you were keeping her in your prayers.

Lee is survived by her son Earl Robert (Bob) Burns IV and his wife Mary Blum Burns of Lake Charles, LA, and granddaughter Manon Leigh Burns of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her bothers Ralph Luke of Lake Worth, FL and Ferrell Luke of Centerville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born to the late George and Edonia Deroach Luke in Centerville, LA. Lee was preceded in death by her brothers Norman Luke, John Luke, Gilbert Luke, Isaac Luke and Lloyd Luke as well as her sister, Margaret Luke Smith.

Lee was married to Earl Robert Burns III for 52 years before his passing in 2010. Lee and her husband lived in Lake Charles for over 30 years. She was a beautician while living in Lake Charles and her customer family was just as beautiful on the outside as they were on the inside when they left the shop.

Lee enjoyed her home near Lake Sam Rayburn, especially her vegetable gardens and twice-yearly stopovers of the beautiful hummingbirds. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends visiting her there at the lake. Her friends in the neighborhood were a lively source of activities, including maintaining and supporting the Powell Point Volunteer Fire Department.

Lee requested no services, but those who knew and loved Lee can keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
