Matthew Alan Wheeler, 36, of Hemphill, Texas passed away August 23, 2021.

He was born in Woodville on February 2, 1985. He attended school in Spurger but graduated from Hemphill ISD. He currently lived in Beaumont and worked at Conn's Distribution Center in Beaumont. Matthew loved getting together with family and playing video games. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hemphill.

He is survived by his parents Joan and John McGee of Hemphill; his birth mother, Teri Lewis and husband, Dave of Huntington; brothers, Troy Lewis of Center, Gerald Wheeler and wife, Sue of Woodville, J.P. McGee of Kountze; sisters, Chelsea Lewis of Huntington, Rebecca Waters and husband, Bradley of Houston, Vickie McGee of Tomball, Wendy McGee of Tomball; Aunt Gwen Nantz of Nederland, Aunt Betty and Uncle Lee Robinson of Browndel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of His Life will be at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger later on in the week under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FBC Youth Fund.
