Neva Joy Smith, 88, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 in Kirbyville, Texas.

She was born in Bienville, Louisiana on June 26, 1932 to Drate Bowman and Bess McElyea Bowman.  She had lived in Bridge City for many years before moving to the Fairmount area 36 years ago and was a longtime member of Fairdale Baptist Church.  Neva Joy was a homemaker, mother and peacekeeper.  She raised four boys.

Neva is survived by her sons, Rod Smith and wife, Wanda, of Kirbyville, Texas, Eric Smith of Arcadia, Louisiana, and Chris Smith and wife, Alma, of Bridge City, Texas; sister, Syble Allen of For Worth, Texas; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allen Smith and her son, Ray Allen Smith, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Fairdale Baptist Church, 4820 Fairdale Rd., Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Fairdale Baptist Church under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. J. R. McDonald officiating.

Burial will follow services in Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Draten Smith, Billy Manning, Michael Manning, Cade Broussard, Eric King and Rod Smith serving as pallbearers.
