Phillip Earl Benson, born on August 4, 1945, in Laredo, Texas, passed away at the age of 80 on May 9, 2026, in Hemphill, Texas. A respected figure in electrical engineering, Phillip dedicated many years of service to ARCO, where his expertise and dedication were invaluable.

Phillip's passions extended beyond his professional achievements. He was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his hunting and fishing trips, with memorable excursions to Alaska reflecting his love for adventure. Additionally, Phillip found joy in the skies piloting planes. His dexterity was further evident in his meticulous work repairing antique clocks and radios, a hobby that allowed him to connect with history and mechanics in a profound way.

Phillip was a beloved family man, survived by his son, Damon Benson; daughters, Bonnie Castle of Texas, and Lisa Johnson and her husband, Ken, of San Antonio, Texas; along with multiple grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Vale Benson; his mother, Dorothy Cottrill; his son, Aaron Benson; and his brother, Lyle Benson.
