Rutha J. Moody, 88, of Hemphill, Texas (formerly of Houston) passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Shady Shores of Hemphill.

She was born August 27, 1933 in Hemphill, Texas to Maxie Million Poye and Zadie Morris Poye. Rutha was a native of Sabine County. She was a resident of Houston for many years where worked as accountant for General Accident Insurance. After retirement, she moved back to Hemphill and lived there for several years before moving to Cut and Shoot, Texas to be closer to her family. Rutha Loves to do knitting and Art Painting of scenic views.

She is survived by her sons, David Moody and wife, Denise, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Glenn Moody and wife, Lesa, of Cut and Shoot, Texas; grandchildren, Alyssa, Glenn, Melissa, and Lori; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Moody officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with her sons, David Moody, Glenn Moody; grandson, Glenn W. Moody; great grandsons, Evan Moody and Chris Moody; and grandson-in-law, Roger Bauer serving as pallbearers.
