Thomas Wayne Whatley, 78, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.

Thomas was born on October 30, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas to Loyce W. Whatley and Lillie Mae Harrell Whatley.  He was a United States Army Veteran and had lived in Channelview, Texas for many years where he worked in the Petroleum Industry.  He had lived in Sabine County since 2003.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irmgard Schmitt Whatley.

He is survived by his friends, Robbie and Sue Mills of Hemphill and Larry and Kay Upshaw of Hemphill; brother, Rodney Lynn Whatley of San Augustine; and cousins, Kathy and Mike Smith of Dallas, Ann Harrell of Arkansas, and Rich Harrell of Maine.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home of Hemphill.
