Obituary

Ephesians 2:10  For we are God's masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

Trixie Lee Diggs Purtell – God's Masterpiece – passed into heaven May 1, 2021.  She was born April 21, 1924, in Provo, Arkansas, to Dudley Decalb & Sarah Jane Batey Diggs.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Vance Rudolph Purtell Sr., her parents, her sister, Josephine Pruitt, brother, Doy Diggs, granddaughter, Pamela, grandson, Phillip and many other loved ones.

Waiting here on earth to join them: children, Vance & Thettie Purtell, Kathy & Floyd Wright, Vivian & Bruce Arrant, Fran & John McCarty, and Martha & Larry Adams.  Grandchildren, Vangie, Marty, Randy, Jeff, Michael, Stephanie, Bradley, Heather, Grant and their spouses.  Great-grandchildren, Luke, Grace, Megan, Rose, Dana, Ryan, Morgan, Trey, Blake, Josie, Kenadee, Randal, Mark, Americo, Macey, Kirby, Alathia, Sofia, Carter, Josh, Marlowe, Iris,  and Madilynn along with 5 spouses.  Great-great-grandchildren Bauer, Benjamin, Martin, Andrew, Rowan and Avonlea.

Trixie was raised in Provo, Arkansas, and left for California when she married the love of her life, Rudolph.  It was here that he entered military service during World War II and they relocated to Florida and eventually settled near family in Texas after the war. Not having finished high school, Trixie choose to pursue and receive her GED at age 70(?)  She was known for her skill with the guitar, piano, singing, cooking and serving. Trixie, with Rudolph, raised 5 children, pastored for 60 years, and she served people, whether by physical acts or genuine prayer, until she left this earth.  This short page can only touch on the life she had. Her legacy is partially listed in the names above.

Her love of people was only exceeded by her love for God, and followed by her love and skills for music, gardens, flowers, cooking and life in general. Her inspiration and stability will be sorely missed by family, friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Rosevine Church of God, FM 1592 & Hwy. 103, Rosevine, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
