William Joseph "Joey" McClelland, 43, of Bronson, Texas passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, Texas.

Joey was born on April 10, 1978 in Jasper, Texas to Ronnie Paul McClelland and Pauline Ellison McClelland.  He was a graduate of West Sabine High School and had earned his associates of applied science degree.  He was a lifetime resident of Sabine County and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.  He had also been an Eagle Scout.

Joey worked as a welder and had worked for various companies including Log Masters and Dragon Resources.  He enjoyed collecting and making knives and made crosses out of railroad spikes.  He also enjoyed reading Woodsmen Magazines.

Joey is survived by his grandmother, Jean McClelland of Brookeland; sister, Julia McClelland of Bronson; aunts, Gloria Simpson and husband, Bobby, of Brookeland and Bobbie Harley of Bronson; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Pauline McClelland.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Elle Carranza officiating.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to service.

Burial will follow services in Harpers Chapel Cemetery with Joey Dyess, Michael D. McClelland, Chris Reynolds, Cecil Tatum, Jeffrey Bailey, Marlon Ford and Deonte Warren serving as pallbearers.

Military Honors will be provided by Sabine County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, Joey's family requests that donations be made to Starr Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
