William Robert Cantrell, "Bill," passed away peacefully on August 9, from pancreatic cancer, surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 29, 1942 to Darryl C. Cantrell and Lillian May Palmer in Lansing, Michigan. He was raised by his grandmother, Julia May Traub. At 4 years old, his grandma's house caught on fire, and his grandpa went back in, and pulled him from the second story, saving his life. He would go on to live 76 more years. At the age of 19, he joined the air force and served until 1964. Bill lived in San Augustine County for the last 20 years. He loved the people, and served them in multiple ways. He worked as a repair man most of his life, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and loved to talk about Jesus. He never met a stranger. Everyone was his friend.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his brother Martin Cantrell, his sister-in-law Audrey Ledbetter, and Brother in-law Donnie Ledbetter. Bill is survived by his wife, Evelyn Harris Cantrell, step daughter Angie Martinez, Step daughter and son in law, Valerie and Nelson Cluff, and grandchildren, Jayda, Halle, Mia, Sienna, Ryder, Kason, Juliet, Jace, and Scarlet.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Craig Fowler officiating.

Burial will follow services in Horton Cemetery.
